2017 Thermo-mechanical finite element modeling of shape memory alloy for the simulation of industrial application

This study aims to develop a model for the modeling of Shape Memory Alloy (SMA), known as intelligent metal by analysis of Finite Element Model (FEM). It is an important task to determine whether the SMA to be used in industrial applications is a wire or a spring form, which depends on the shape and mechanical properties of the SMAs. The force and displacement to be achieved is depend on the voltage value and length of the SMA, making the simulation of the application process necessary. For this reason, it is very important to make the simulations with correct model in FEA.. In the study, the mechanical and thermo-mechanical properties of SMA were used to investigate the effect of temperature on the applied voltage, as well as the mechanical displacement as well as force. It is believed that the FEA model which is proposed in this study will facilitate the system design process and that these processes will be minimized.
